Diabetic Education

MLHS Diabetes Education Services teaches our patients to live with and self-manage their diabetes. The education program cover the following topics:

  • Diabetes disease process
  • Nutritional management
  • Physical activity
  • Medications, monitoring, preventing, detecting, and treating acute complications

We also assist with those diagnosed with diabetes during pregnancy (gestational diabetes).

MLHS Diabetes Education Services is a recognized Diabetes Self Management Education Program by the American Diabetes Association (ADA). Recognized programs, such as ours, complete a rigorous and thorough review of the education services by the ADA and have shown to achieve state of the art education adhering to national standards for its participants and are proud to provide this high quality service to our patients.

This unique program from the ADA teaches people the importance of monitoring their blood sugars, counting carbohydrates in their diets and incorporating exercise into their lives.

In addition to classes, Iverson also facilitates an ongoing diabetes support group designed to offer continuing education and support to patients following the ADA classes.
